Ionic Bench, Lori Beckerman

Ionic Bench, Lori Beckerman
It is inspired by the capital of an Ionic column. Instead of looking like a dense stone, I wanted to extract the lines of the form to create a light, spacious and resilient bench, in the center of which a person sits, framed on the sides by two large luxurious curls. The lines of layers of Baltic birch evoke a sense of movement and liveliness. The surfaces that reveal the layers are carefully sanded and covered with high quality Italian acrylic; as a result, the seat becomes sensually smooth to the touch. This beautiful, durable and highly functional seat is perfect for a hallway or at the foot of a bed where scrolls are used for storage. The first bench produced is currently in the collection of a traveling museum called The Art of Sitting 200 Years of American Design.
The model is made according to the size of the real object.
